Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, ”The meritorious scholarship will be given to the students of LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, NUST, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute and 7 more top private universities.” She added, ”Scholarships worth Rs 130 billion will be provided in 08 years under Honahaar Scholarship Program, and One lakh 20 thousand students will benefit from it in next 4 years. Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently announced the launch of the Honahar Scholarship Program via her Twitter account. This initiative is designed to provide quality education opportunities to deserving and meritorious students, enabling them to overcome financial barriers and achieve their higher education goals. Sharif expressed her pride in fulfilling a commitment from their manifesto and her inaugural speech in Parliament, aiming specifically to aid underprivileged segments of society.

The program highlights include offering 30,000 annual scholarships for undergraduate degrees in 68 disciplines that align with current job market demands. It encompasses 50 public sector universities, 16 M Vaudate Colleges, and prestigious private institutions such as LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, GIKI, NUST, among others. The program is set to invest PKR 7 billion in its first year, with a projected total of PKR 130 billion over the next eight years. Overall, it aims to benefit 120,000 students over the next four years.

Eligibility Criteria for Honahaar Scholarship Program 2024

To apply for this scholarship program, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Residence: You should have a domicile (official residency certificate) from any district in Punjab.
2. Age Limit: You must not be older than 22 years as of the application deadline.
3. Family Income: Your family’s monthly income must not exceed Rs 300,000. You will need to provide a sworn affidavit as proof. You can download a sample affidavit here.
4. Educational Enrollment: You must be enrolled in specific disciplines at selected universities or colleges for the fall 2024 session. This eligibility also extends to students who start their MBBS or BDS degrees in 2024.
5. Academic Requirements: Your minimum marks in FSc or Intermediate should be:
   • At least 80% for admission to medical colleges and top universities.
   • At least 75% for sciences and 70% for arts and social sciences at public sector universities.
   • At least 65% for sciences and 60% for arts and social sciences at HED (Higher Education Department) colleges.

First of all students will create their accounts on official web portal. The website is https://honhaarscholarship.punjabhec.gov.pk/.

After creating account they will sign in and enter their complete personal and educational details. Complete application form will be submitted online and Govt of Punjab will verify information.
